Collection: Purpleheart Lumber

Grain usually straight often with a fine curly figure. Fine texture. Takes a glossy, lustrous finish. Lacquer finish will best preserve the color. Also called Amaranth.

Purpleheart lumber is a deep and beautiful eggplant purple once exposed to oxygen. With further age the wood can become a dark brown. The grain on the wood tends to be straight with some waves here and there. Purpleheart is usually rated as being a very durable lumber and is resistant to rot and decay. Be careful when handling this lumber though as it has a tendency to clog tools that are used on it if temperatures are too hot or blades are going too fast.
